TAPP-C involves two main components; fire safety education (provided by the local fire department) and assessment (completed by Chimo). The aim of the program is to reduce fire involvement and to promote fire safety.

Chimo’s role in the TAPP-C Program is to assess the child/youth’s potential risk of future fire involvement, to assess clinical concerns and to make treatment and safety recommendations. Once the assessment is completed, if the family has not been referred to the Fire Department already, Chimo will facilitate this.

Who this service is for:

The TAPP-C program is for children and youth (2-17years) that may be setting fires or engaging in other forms of fire play.

Service Location

The assessment component is typically provided at Chimo’s main office in Lindsay and the fire safety is in the family home and local fire department

Commitment

This assessment requires open and honest sharing of information from the young person and their family.  In order to ensure safety, participants need to commit to completing all parts of the program including the fire safety component carried out by the fire department.
