Our Services
We are a voluntary program that provides a variety of services to meet the needs of children, youth and their families in the community.
Chimo Youth & Family Services is an accredited Children’s mental health agency that is funded by the Ministry of Health. We offer a number of different services in each region.
Service Philosophy
Being of service to children, youth and their families is the purpose of Chimo Youth and Family Service, and as such, our approach to service is guided by the following principles:
Client-centered: The needs and wishes of our clients are at the center of all that we do and meeting them where they are emotionally, mentally, developmentally, and physically is essential to success.
Partnership: Engaging in services at Chimo means working as partners together and clients are involved in all decisions that impact them.
Everyone is Unique: We respect each person's uniqueness and how they identify themselves, including their values and beliefs. Understanding that everyone and every situation is different supports individualized service planning.
Strength-based: We empower everyone to use their strengths and build on those strengths to make their lives better.
Holistic View: We recognize the importance of seeing children, youth, and families as more than just the concerns they come to us with. We look at the big picture, such as social aspects, cultural context, spiritual needs, etc.
Safety: Children and youth need to feel emotionally and physically safe to express their feelings; this is achieved through empathy, emotional support, and acceptance of all feelings. Protecting children and youth from aggression and violence while in our service is paramount.
