The Adventure Quest Program is a partnership between Chimo Youth and Family Services, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes, Trillium Lakelands District School Board and Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board.
It is an innovative, evidence-informed program that has been developed with community collaboration to address the need for alternative programming for youth struggling within the mainstream school frame work.
The program helps students in grades 6-8 become more self-confident, communicate better both at home and at school, work on group skills, peer relations, making decisions and solving conflicts, through experiential learning and adventure based activities. Group size is kept to about 6 participants. As well, the program offers in-home support to assist families with their concerns such as communication, problem solving and setting limits just to name a few.
Referrals to this program come directly from school board personnel in collaboration with the youth and their family.
